SandFest always has a huge centerpiece called the
"Demo." This year it was 250 tons of sand and had three
sides. One side was a huge birthday cake, celebrating SandFest's
10th Anniversary. The "candles" were actually castle
turrets and there were balloons and presents.
We are now in our 13th year!
The photo to the left shows the "Tribute to the
Theatre" side of the Demo. It had big stage curtains, drama
masks, a
"Now Showing" marquee and stage lights...
Lesson Mountain gave free sand
sculpting lessons to thousands of people during SandFest. This year
Lesson Mountain was sponsored by Coastline Adventures Vacation Rentals and
Starkey Properties.
Having fun at the Burger King
Youth Tent
Lesson Mountain, as always, was
a favorite at SandFest. Young and old gathered there to learn the
basics of sand sculpting.
Texas Treasure Casino Cruises ran a free shuttle for us,
using their bus and driver to transport people to SandFest from Sharkey's
parking lot.
Thanks Texas Treasure!
Our great friends at Petco sponsored our Pet Oasis Tent
which had a comfort station for all the pets who came to SandFest, with
fresh water and treats! They also had a Pet Contest and Pet Parade.
Burger King had lots of free
crafts and games at the Burger King Youth Tent.
